DARJEELING, SIKKIM & BHUTAN

4
As first-time Exodus travellers, on meeting up with our group in Delhi, we were immediately reassured by finding out that all our fellow travellers were  Exodus veterans, some many times over. This put us at our ease and we began looking forward with relaxed anticipation rather than hesitation as we normally travel on our own backpacking to our own schedule. Exodus dosen't choose the group but it probably attracts interesting people and no one was overpowering or selfish.

Essential Peru

ESSENTIAL PERU

Every day offered a surprise; Lima to the Ballestas and on to the Nazca lines,  a stop at ancient burial grounds with mummies in open graves, stops at museums, ancient aqueduct sites, an oasis in the desert, and a drive through the Andes with the extreme variation in landscapes. We walked through a rain forest, visited a huge local market, spent time at Machu Picchu , overnight on Amantani Island, and of course a visit to a floating reed island. It  was all so interesting  and exciting.

Spice Trails of Kerala

SPICE TRAILS OF KERALA

5
A truly wonderful trip. The first part of the trip you head off to trek the less explored hills of Kerala while the later part of the trip is  spent doing the usual  Keralan highlights  like the spice gardens,  temple city of Madhurai,  Periyaar wildlife sanctuary  ending by leisurely cruising along the back waters of Kerala - the perfect sign off to the trip.Enjoyed the trip and was a pleasant surprise to be in "touristy" Kerala with hardly any other tourists around during the trek having most of the place to yourself.

The hotel in Alberobello was SUBSTANDARD- BAD.  Mucky, shower over the toilet, no bedside lights, bedding not clean- in fact appaling.  The other accomadation very good and luggage transfer excellent,

Exodus Response

We are pleased that this client enjoyed the trip overall, but we were sorry to read the comments about the hotel in Alberobello. The 2013 hotel was in fact a series of converted trulli houses, which we thought was a nice touch, but it is clear that they were not enjoyed by many of our clients. We therefore made some quite significant changes to the itinerary at the end of 2013 and in 2014 we have been using different accommodation which has been well received.

Walking The Amalfi Coast

THE AMALFI COAST

A very enjoyable week despite the unseasonal and prolonged pluvial extravaganza (it rained alot for late April!). Very good hotel with excellent and plentiful meals. Great scenery (when the clouds lifted) and some iconic sites visited: Pompei, Ercolano & Vesuvio. Splendid bunch of positive uncomplaining fellow companions.

WALKING THE GREAT WALL

A great trip which will live long in the memory. Walking was really good, but on some days over too quickly which left quite a bit of free time in afternoons. Fine in Beijing, but a lot less to do out in the country.

Highlights of Turkey

HIGHLIGHTS OF TURKEY

This was a well thought-out tour which showed us some amazing sights and a good introduction to Turkey and its history. Although it involved a lot of travelling, we had a comfortable bus and our time was efficiently organised with no wastage. Our guide was excellent, knowledgeable, always ready to sort out any problems, and good company.

Project work in Morocco with Baraka

GET INVOLVED: MOROCCO VOLUNTEER

My second Morocco Volunteer trip and even more wonderful than the first! I loved being back in Tijhza, seeing the vibrant spring colours and snow on the high mountains, seeing the villagers again, seeing the hammam with its completed walls and roof, making my home in the kasbah and getting stuck into work again. I loved being back in Tafedna, seeing the school looking as colourful as we had left it, playing with the local children, working alongside the locals again. I loved being back in Essaouira, walking along the beach and exploring the souks in beautiful sunshine. I also loved the new areas we visited, the beautiful hotels we stayed in and the wonderful company of my group. Another altogether amazing trip with a multitude of memorable moments and experiences.

CYCLE NICARAGUA, COSTA RICA AND PANAMA

Fantastic!! Absolutely loved this trip and it was exactly what I wanted. Some days were quite hard work, but the structure of the trip gave you the opportunity to push yourself if you wanted to, but also there was the chance to take it at a little more of a relaxed pace, enjoying the magnificent scenery and fantastic wildlife to be spotted! I was slightly apprehensive about cycling in such high intensity heat, however I think the group really coped well with it - it was when we stopped cycling that it hit!!

MALLORCA: SIERRA TRAMUNTANA

This was an extremely enjoyable trip visually and culturally. Our guide was outstanding. My only proviso was that the C grade description was somewhat exaggerated. This was a pity as the guide was more than capable of fulfilling any grading required. The quality of the walking was excellent.
