INCA TRAIL & THE AMAZON RAINFOREST

The best trip we have ever been on!  Particularly well led by our local guide who was both well informed and good at his job, but also managed to have the human touch as well.

WALKING IN THE FRENCH PYRENEES

I decided to head for the Pyrenees after seeing the Tour de France 2011 on TV, and what better way to appreciate the scenery than by walking in the landscape.  The walking was a little stiffer than I'd envisaged from the brochure, but our walking guide Chris was excellent, and so patient and accomodating with those of us not necessarily at the front of the pack that we did not feel pressurised. The hotel and the food were fine. And the 16 of us on the trip - of varying ages and capabilities - all got on well together and we had a great time.

Super trip, lovely scenery, good cycle tracks and very good bikes. Hotels could be better. The route takes you through gorgeous, peaceful farmlands and along the beautiful Danube, and each night is spent in an interesting and picturesque town. The miles covered are sometimes long but not difficult. We enjoyed doing the self-guided tour, and you meet up with other lovely people along the way.

This was our fourth visit to Egypt.  We had done a similar tour twenty years ago and it was good to update our experiences with such a knowledgable guide. The train journeys were necessary I suppose but not a delight. In summary was a thoroughly enjoyable trip with good company and good hotels.

EVEREST BASE CAMP & GOKYO LAKES

Owing to bad weather we lost 4 days of the trek because we were unable to get to Lukla and this meant that the Goyko Lakes and Cho La section was cancelled. Exodus did in the end organise helicopters so we were able to make it to Everest Base Camp and climb Kala Pattar. I am still disappointed at missing Gokyo and the Cho la pass but the trek was fantastic and the helicopter journey was a great experience. I was on my own and the only female in the group, but it worked out really well.

WALKING IN BOSNIA & HERZEGOVINA

This was one of my best ever Exodus holidays, combining moderately-demanding trekking in beautiful alpine scenery with the culture and emotion of a war-torn nation.  The reviews provided by fellow walkers, Maria and Paula, say it all.
