THE TURQUOISE COAST

A great choice for a last grab of sunshine before entering the English winter. Beautiful scenery, undemanding walks, great food and surprisingly good wine (Turkish wine was a revelation).

KILIMANJARO CLIMB - RONGAI ROUTE

Restricted for time my wife and I chose this route as it fitted in with our available holiday dates and we were attracted to the 'easiest' route classification.  Sadly I fell sick at Kibo the base camp for the summit and missed the opportunity to go for it.  On reflection a longer climb with more acclimatisation would perhaps have been better.  Our group was assesed as 'strong' and 8 out of 15 got to the summit.  Whilst disappointed I still enjoyed the experience and may return.

WALKING THE AMALFI COAST

An excellent week with a good balance of walks interspersed with culture (Pompeii etc).  We had a completely dry week (in October!) which helped.  Good family run hotel wher nothing was too much trouble.  Walks reasonably easy (the Exodus rating was about right) A touch too many steps.  What gorgeous countryside.

SICILIAN VOLCANOES

Our trip was a wonderful experience, but maybe a little more challenging than we expected. Our guide, Federica, was one of the highlights of the week.

PERU EXPLORER

If you want a relaxing holiday, carefree and pampered, choose something else.  Peru Explorer is more of a travel experience and you will need the resilience for some 05.00 starts and long days, climates to challenge your packing, mostly middle of the road, sometimes quirky, hotels, three nights wild camping, and probably a bout of being unwell at some point, as everyone in my group was. What you'll get is the most comprehensive tour of the southern half of this splendid country, all its highlights, an Andean trek, astonishment at the sophistication of the Incas, three starkly different climate zones and, demanding its own mention, the simply world class attraction of Machu Picchu.  Yes, it really is as staggering as you're imagining, not over-hyped, and up there with Angkor, Bagan and the Taj.

WALKING THE GREAT WALL

The days spent trekking were simply fantastic, drinking in the grandeur of the wall and spending the evenings in remote home stays getting a glimpse of what China looks like outside of the cities. As the trip takes you away from the main tourist areas so you get to enjoy the experience with your own thoughts. Also the food was absolutely brilliant - assuming you like spicy Chinese food! I normally tend towards independent travel, but I can’t see how you could easily replicate this experience independently. I thought Exodus did very well with the trip structure though personally I would have liked longer days trekking and more time on the wall        The Xian Extension was disappointing, though the Terracotta Army visit was amazing. Knowing what I know now, I’d have gone to Xian independently after the main trip ended. I don’t think for this part of the trip that Exodus really added to the experience.

WALKING IN MALLORCA

A varied, well organised walking trip which provided some much needed outdoor relief before the onset of winter. It was great having walks provided every day, and care and attention was put in to ensuring that every day was very different. A really good taster to these beautiful mountains!
