LADAKH: THE MARKHA VALLEY

Great trip if you like fantastic and imposing landscapes of never ending mountains. Amazing views of Stok Kangri and Kang Yaze mountains full of snow and glaciers during the trek - changing scenery and colours as you walk through the gorges - from blue to green, amazing monasteries, some very high up, kept by a single monk sometimes.  Fascinating glimpse into life in Ladakh as you acclimatise in Leh for 3 days and later walk through tiny villages through the Markah Valley.  And a must if you into buddhism - especially if your guide is Valerie Parkinson.

WALKING IN MADEIRA

The walks were verging on the most difficult.  Some group members needed a lot of help which meant that other members were left to walk most of the walk without the leader. A bit more information about the terrain would help people decide if it is suitable.  It would be nice if you could highlight the number of changes of accommodation as don't like too many moves.

MANALI TO LEH RIDE

Our trip was reversed due to a land slip near Manali to give chance for the road to be repaired so we flew into Leh and cycled to Manali.  This is a classic trip along one of the worlds most awesome roads.  Not for the faint hearted - cycling days were long and the temperature varies from boiling hot to freezing and can change rapidly, and of course the altitude makes it feel that much harder, but a must do for anyone who loves cycling and is confident about their fitness.

TURQUOISE COAST ADVENTURE - FAMILY HOLIDAY

Our tour guide, Alex, was fantastic and had a lot of local knowledge about the hidden treasures of Kas, aswell as the many obvious qualities. The trips out were very well organised and we felt that we were in safe hands. Our favorite day was the sea kayaking, which was exciting, good fun and great for muscle development! The food was great with enough choice for even the fussiest eater, and the most adventurous. The beer is great and the peach juice sublime, don't mention the wine though.

THE AMALFI COAST

This trip is described as a walking tour, which is not. It is a hiking trip.  Also, it is not a leisurely / moderate hiking trip, but rather a quite intense hiking trip. In order to cope, one needs to be fit and have hiking experience. And walking poles are indeed necessary and not optional, as stated in the description.  So, if you don´t like hiking, think twice before booking this trip. Having said the above, this was a very well organized trip, the hotel was very good with excellent food and our guide Albert was very helpful and sociable. The Amalfi Coast is quite beautiful, even though, if one follows the trip program and does all the hiking, there isn't enough time to enjoy the coast and the towns.

Exodus Response

We are sorry that Stella found the walking to be tougher than expected. We tend to call any trip that is a series of daywalks a 'walking holiday', and point to point routes we call treks. As an alternative, AVG - Amalfi Coast & Bay of Naples is classed as a ‘Discover’ trip and focuses more on the cultural and natural highlights of the area, experienced at a leisurely pace. We work hard to ensure the Trip Notes accurately reflect the content of the trip and we are always available to answer any queries our customers may have.

A lot of fun, lots of steps, spectacular scenery.  A sense of accomplishment that we hadn't taken the easy route by taking the train.
