YOSEMITE AND THE CANYONLANDS

Writing my reveiw after returning yesterday....  Visiting the Grand Canyon has been an ambition  since childhood, and I chose this trip as I hoped it would offer a chance to see multiple sites and I believed the camping and walking would provide a real taste of the country.  I was not disappointed but how can any other holiday live up to this experience ...

WALKING THE GREAT WALL

A trip made glorious by the extraordinarily generous, fun-loving, and adventuresome folk it brought together.  Some of the walking was quite challenging, particularly given the heat and humidity-- but I had a brilliant time, and I'd highly recommend it to anyone interested in Chinese food and culture-- and who is not afraid of heights!

Overall it was a great trip. It was certainly more of a life experience than a true holiday as you will see India in the raw at times.

TREKKING IN MADAGASCAR

I was disappointed by how few opportunities we had to observe wildlife. From the online itinerary, it seems as if this holiday is about wildlife watching, as well as trekking and seeing the way of life. However, the wildlife we did see was largely incidental, or part of additional excursions that were not included in the trip. And when we did finally get to see lemurs, we were rushed through. If you're looking for wildlife, this is not the trip for you. However, every other aspect of the holiday was fantastic. Our group leader and all of the local guides were very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The driver was exceptionally good - very good at anticipating problems and navigating undeveloped roads. The accommodation was fantastic and the food was delicious. The trekking scenery was beautiful and very unusual.

HIGHLIGHTS OF MOROCCO

A photo opportunity around every corner.  Colours you'll remember forever.  The golden sands of the Sahara, the stunning "Berber" blue, the silver moon and stars over the desert and the vibrant colours of the carpets, slippers and tagines lining the walls of the medinas and the ladies colourful floating robes.
