GORILLAS & MASAI MARA

The reverse route for the AYU trip was majestic. We did the reverse because we wanted to make sure we were able to see the gorillas at our best (not tired or potentially sick by the end of the trip). This proved to be a GREAT decision. Although I was not tired or sick by the end, I felt that seeing the gorillas first and then the small scale safaris was a great preview to the epic Masai Mara!

KILIMANJARO CLIMB - RONGAI ROUTE

The trip was extremely well organised and the AWC guides and porters were fabuolous - I was well fed and well looked after in all apsects of the trip.  I thoroughly enjoyed the route which was challenging at times, beautiful and took in a wide variety of landscapes and wildlife - colobus monkeys, buffalo, blue monkeys, various insects all amazing.  The only downside was the rep on our return to the hotel, we were left to give out the certificates within the group and the presentation cermemnoy and celebratory beers we were promised didn't happen.  There were a few people in our group who struggled to get some informaiton they needed insurance wise due to lost kit as a result of his unavailability which was a shame after a thoroughly enjoyable and memorable week.

CORSICA: THE GR20

No wonder Paddy Dillon described the GR20 as 'one of the top trails in the world'.It's got everything from exposed ridges where basic scrambling is required to rugged gorges and alpine plateau's that reveal magical landscapes and vista's.The scenery was spectacular as towering pinnacles of rock overlooked dense forests of Lariccio pines. The opportunity to climb some of the highest mountains on the island on our 'rest day' was an added bonus.Any reasonably fit person with the right gear and a head for heights should cope with the undulations and roughness of terrain on this beautiful island.

INTRODUCTION TO VIA FERRATA

The Dolomites are truly beautiful and should be on everyone's itinerary at some point. And if you want a bit of an adrenaline buzz from leaning out safely over empty space 2500 meters up the side of a mountain, then try Via Ferrata.

MONT BLANC HIGHLIGHTS

This was my first group trip and I wasn't sure what to expect.  It was my first walking holiday and I wasn't sure what to expect.  It was my first holiday without my husband or a friend and I wasn't sure what to expect.  And it was great in every way.

One of the best holidays I had so far. Not a very good start with the permit visa issue that only made me think that something may go wrong later on. As per local confirmation there is no need to apply for permit and visa in UK as it is an unnecessary hassle, best to do it locally as it was done at the end in our case. Beside that all else went as expected or in case of the climb exceeded my expectations. I would though rank the trip as C/D with E (summit day) grade as it was a very physical trek on the last day especially. I did other climbs , like Kilimanjaro, and I found them more C/D than this one.

TRINS: THE AUSTRIAN TYROL

An excellent holiday in a lovely country. Good walking, good food, and the best Exodus group I have walked with on a European  trip. Wild flowers galore. 50 years since I last walked in Austria, so lots of very happy memories were revived.

CLASSIC DOLOMITES

The hotel situation meant that this was not a holiday for anyone who values sleep. On a square with a nearby church the bells of which sounded evey quarter hour night and day, I was desperate for a decent night sleep by the time I arrived home.  Food well over rated. Also the Wellness centre - a major attraction for me was not in fact available when we were there.

Exodus Response

We are very sorry that this reviewer did not enjoy their stay at the Hotel Adler and that the Wellness Centre was not available during their stay. We have been working with the Adler for over 10 years and we get lots of great feedback about the hotel itself and in particular the food. Our Dolomites programme manager has stayed at the hotel and although she appreciates that church bells can be heard from the front of the hotel, it is very rare that our clients don’t enjoy their stay.
