Day 1. Joining instructions were wrong. We were informed we were staying at the wrong hotel and the transfer driver was also informed of the wrong hotel. This was quite traumatic at 2am but we were quickly moved to the correct hotel. The hotel was good with lovely breakfast Day 2. Lunch was not in an open air courtyard with live music and peacocks, it was in a pleasant enough cafe though. The chocolate museum was more of a chocolate shop, ok for a quick visit but not the highlight the children had been looking forward to. The camera obscura in plaza vieja was worth a visit. Day 3. The Crocodile breeding centre was interesting, the boat ride to the Taino village was fast and exciting. There wasnt lots to see on the island. The hotel and beach at playa larga was lovely. Day 4 We went birdwatching by driving slowly in our comfortable air conditioned mini bus with our guide then stopping and walking to see birds, which were plentiful and varied, the guide was great. We then went to Caleta Buena which had fantastic snorkelling and all inclusive drinks which was a great bonus. Day 5 we did the Day 7 itinerary, the russian truck ride was fun and rattly. We had a long walk and saw more great birds and swam in a waterfall area and let the fish give us a pedicure! Day 6 Trinidad was beautiful and colourful, we loved exploring and seeing the locals too. Day 7 we had another walk to a waterfall, a shorter walk and this waterfall had an exciting jump in and cave to swim in with bats flying overhead, which was a real highlight. Che Guevaras mausoleum was a real eye opener and worth a quick visit. Day 8 we swam and jumped from another waterfall and we loved the zip wiring Day 9 the orchid farm was lovely, we then deviated from the itinerary, visiting another waterfall instead of the viewpoint, which was worth doing, the casas in vinales were beautiful Day 10 the natural cave was impressive but the boat ride was very short indeed and we were glad not to have queued for long. The organic farm and lunch were amazing. Day 11- 13 cayo levisa was beautiful. When we arrived we were told that lunch was not included despite being informed it would be by our guide and by the itinerary. The food when it was included was great and it was a treat to be right on the beach. We had a relaxing few days collecting shells, snorkelling and reading in the sun. Day 14 we had a smooth transfer to havana, except when the driver joined the highway via an exit sliproad! Luckily there were no other vehicles present. On arrival at the hotel in havana our rooms were not ready and they didnt have room to put our bags in the luggage room so they were left on a trolley while we went back to old havana for a last look around. Back to the hotel for a quick swim and change but there were enormous queues at reception, my husband had to wait for 1 hour to get allocated a room our transfer to the airport went well.

A wonderful tour of beautiful, colourful Cuba! This tour is for families and provides a good insight into living in Cuba as you stay in casa Particulars and really get to know your hosts. In addition a highly informative guide explains the way of life, history and origins of this varied isle. Covering a significant part of Cuba the tour takes in: lively changing Havana where old buildings are currently being renovated and 1950 cars gleam and shine on the roads, Time capsuled Trinidad with its cobbled streets, horse drawn carts and lively music scene, and the green and colourful countryside of Vinales to see where tobacco and other crops are grown, finally rest and recuperation on the beach in Varadero. The tour is full and busy with lots of things to see and do: salsa dance, mohitjo sample, cigar production.... Plenty for the kids too: zip wire, nature trails, waterfall swimming, snorkeling and of course a white beach at Varadero. The tour allows you to soak up the vibe that is Cuba, relax and kick back into a different world of yester year which is changing before your eyes as it catches up with the 21st century.

This was probably our best holiday ever. We are a family of four with two boys aged 14 and 16. We shared the holiday with three other families, whom we had not met before. hey had similar aged children and we got on tremendously well.. We felt that we had the right balance of sightseeing, culture and relaxing on the beach.

CUBA SALSA! - FAMILY HOLIDAY

With two easy going teenagers who have never been out of Europe/US we wanted a "safe" adventure, and Cuba was perfect. We all had the BEST time -plenty of cultural (music -everywhere!), political(Che Guevara! Castro! Bay of Pigs!) , social (ration shps, horse drawn buses, no begging, must crochet), for all of us to absorb and digest, but also lots of holidaying with swimming galore, rum ditto, and brilliant tour guide.
