Cuba: La Isla Grande

Cuba La isle grande

This was a special and memorable holiday. Cuba was much more than I expected. Th people are lovely and friendly. The culture and history was fascinating. The colours and music absolutely magical. Food was much better than I expected, especially the fish. Your guide, Ari, was so knowledgeable and made the whole trip by his enthusiasm and genuine love and pride for his wonderful country and people. The hotels were acceptable though personally I did not like the all inclusive resort. We covered a lot of Cuba and saw the diversity and the challenges the people have had to put up with over the years and their resilience amazes me. I loved the place and will tell everyone to undertake this trip and explore the whole of the island and not just stay in the all inclusive resorts where they miss out the real Cuba.

Cuba: La Isla Grande

Cuba - La Isla Grande

An excellent trip that I thoroughly enjoyed. I liked the mix of towns/cities, coast, walks and the variety of the trip in that it allowed me to see a lot of the country in a limited amount of time. Our group were a great lot and everyone got on which really helped. A big thank you to our driver who negotiated some tiny roads and driving in torrential rain and in the dark as well as Yazel our group leader.

Cuba - La Isla Grande

A great trip that covers a large part of the island , going through many towns and much countryside. You see the contrast from Havana city down to small rural hamlets . Need to be reasonably mobile as there is a fair amount of "on the bus , off the bus" up and down the steps. Given the distances travelled some early starts are to be expected but there are occasiosn to rest as well ( or fall asleep on the bus ) .

La Isla Grande - Cuba

This was a wonderful holiday! Recommended for those who are truly interested in learning about the life in Cuba today. Our guide -Ari- was impressive with both his knowledge level and his ability to interact with the group in a lively and respectful manner. This is not a trip for those who wish to bask in the sunshine but rather for those inquisitive minds who enjoy exploration and experiences. Accommodations are varied but always provide a clean bed and other necessities. Be prepared for long bus rides on many days as you travel the island. I also recommend the excursion to Vinales in western Cuba. Overall a great trip.

Cuba: La Isla Grande

This is a great trip for getting to see how Cubans go about their everyday lives, from the farmers tilling the soil with ox drawn ploughs to the more opportunist young city folk of Old Havana. It's amazing how time seems to have passed a lot slower here since the revolution in 1959, while the world as we know it has accelerated away. There are some longish days on the bus with not many opportunities between stops to take in the culture, or other sights to visit The standard of hotels was better than expected as well as the food; lobster was plentiful and cheap. Also, plentiful was the music, salsa dancing and mojitos.

Highly recommended trip!

This is a brilliant trip, covering the whole of this beautiful island. You get to see a variety of countryside, lovely old colonial towns and beaches, museums and mountains, and find out about the country's eventful history and (many) national heroes.

This was a fantastic trip, well structured, well organised, managed and implemented. It was non stop enjoyment from start to finish with a variety of activities as included on the itinerary and more besides. The driving was ( as stated) broken up with stops for lunch, swimming and drinking to rehydrate, but that said, the coach was always well equipped with bottled water.

Hola Cuba

The variety on this trip is fantastic. Yes there are long road journeys but the itinerary splits it up as well as possible and with coastal swim options a welcome relief. You get to learn about colonial Spain, the Revolution, USA intervention, current economics and politics, and experience the mountains and geology, the Caribbean and Atlantic coasts, as well as the music and dance that is notably Cuban. The cocktails are wonderful and the food much better than suggested - lobster on 3 occasions cannot be bad!
