Special departures - Responsible Travel

Special Departures

To really get hands on why not join one of our special volunteer departures which will give you the opportunity to get involved with some of our Responsible Tourism projects and to really make a difference to some of the smaller communities we visit.  You will work alongside various communities on schemes they need help with, such as installing a solar cooker, providing much needed medical aid or simply redecorating a classroom. This is a great way to begin your holiday and provides better insight for your journey through another culture. As requested, we take out many items from the UK such as toothbrushes, educational material or old clothes and shoes and then distribute them through local channels to those who need them the most. The best part is seeing how your £50 donation per person is directly used on the projects.

In addition, some of our standard trips have specific dates highlighted because there is either a volunteering option or conservation opportunity on that particular date.  These are detailed below, along with all our special departures.

Whether you get involved by joining a special departure or simply making a donation, we thank you for all your support in helping Exodus make a real and lasting difference to some very real people and environments.

All our 2014 special departures are listed below and for more information, please contact Paula Mason, our special groups expert on 0845 330 6009.

  • Morocco Volunteer - working with two communities, a Berber village in the Atlas Mountains and the coastal village of Tafedna.
  • Zambia Volunteer - help renovate classrooms in two very different community schools, one urban and one rural, with a Zambezi River safari in between.
  • Laos Volunteer - see a region of South East Asia rarely visited by tourists, along the banks of the Mekong and Ou rivers.
  • Kruger Safari Rhino Conservation - assist Dr Rogers with tracking and protecting endangered White rhino, plus a safari in South Africa's Kruger National Park.
